A group approached me at Newport PATH asking for money for a friend who was unwell. When I said I had no cash they moved on to a young woman standing next to me. They took her phone on the pretext of entering their Zelle details, distracted her, and transferred around $1,000 before she realised what had happened. I called the police myself from the train. They would not take a report from me, because I was not the person who had actually been scammed.
